When the creative team behind Boyz Trip – a bold new film began shaping its story, one location quickly emerged as more than just a backdrop, Cape Town, became a character in its own right. From its cultural depth to its breathtaking landscapes, the city proved to be the perfect setting for a film rooted in friendship, suspense, and cultural expression.
U.S. producer Autumn Bailey‑Ford, who produces Boyz Trip under her banner, Autumn Bailey Entertainment, spoke with us about her experience filming in Cape Town; sharing her appreciation for the city and all it has to offer, and more. Directed by Kyle Scott from his original story, the film also sees Scott serving as executive producer through KeyScott Entertainment alongside Canyon View Media.
Cape Town emerged as a clear creative choice early in development, offering the visual scale and cultural depth director Kyle Scott was seeking. As the story evolved, the city’s beauty and global sensibility became essential to shaping key moments on screen.
“Cape Town feels both international and deeply culturally rooted,” says producer Autumn Bailey‑Ford. “That balance gave the film an elevated look while staying authentic to the story we were telling.”
The film follows a group of friends who reconnect after skipping their college reunion, only to discover that one of them has been living a double life undercover. Blending humor, friendship, and suspense, the story is grounded by a strong cultural lens.
For Autumn, producing the film meant carefully assembling every element to support Scott’s vision from cast and crew through production and into post‑production. What began as a location choice ultimately became something more: a city that helped define the film’s tone, texture, and identity.
